2017michelleChicago area native Michelle Boyd, owner of Good Gracious Cakes, has ALWAYS loved dessert. About 10 years ago, she realized that she could combine her two passions – art and dessert, and she made the switch from graphic designer & illustrator to full-time sugar artist.

Since then, Michelle’s award winning cake designs have been featured in several magazines and blogs including Cake Masters Magazine, Sweet Magazine, Wedding Guide Chicago, and Cake Wrecks-Sunday Sweets.

Michelle was named one of the Top Ten Cake Artists in North America for 2014 by “Dessert Professional” magazine. You may also have seen her on several television shows including TLC’s “Ultimate Cake Off”, Food Network’s “Sugar Dome,” “Duff Til Dawn” and “Outrageous Wedding Cakes.”

She is also VP of the Food Artist Group, a group of internationally acclaimed food artists who work in a wide variety of edible mediums.

She creates elaborate edible showpieces at various events and festivals around the country and teaches classes in sugar mediums both in the US and abroad.

2017sidneySidney Galpern is a Certified Professional Chocolatier, Cake Designer, Sugar Artist, and an International Instructor.  She graduated with honors from the prestigious Ecole Chocolat School of the Chocolate Arts and has the distinction as the youngest student to ever complete the program.  She trained with top sugar artists and chefs in New York City, London, Orlando, and West Palm Beach.  Her company was chosen for the ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Space Coast.  Sidney teaches and demonstrates sugar and cake decorating to professionals and amateurs for the last 9 & 1/2 years at venues such as Keiser University, The Cake Cruise, Cake Shows, ICES Convention and Days of Sharing, culinary schools, restaurants, at the Festival of Chocolate, at cake clubs and cake supply stores,  private classes, along with judging and sponsoring cake shows, sponsoring special isomalt awards and is a member of the Icing Images Design Team & Team Sugar Art.  She designs and manufactures her own line of sugar art tools, manufactures her own brand of isomalt, as well as writing articles published in American Cake Decorating Magazine, Edible Artists Network Magazine, Cake Masters Magazine, CakeFu.com, and featured on SugarEd Productions Online School, About.com, in the Florida Today Newspaper, Today in Brevard Television Show, German GalileoTV, Biloxi WLOX News, San Antonio Today, the ICES Magazine, and as a CakeFu Master Trainer.  She released her first DVD for cake decorators in the fall of 2012.  In her spare time Sidney likes to write fiction and play the drums.  Sidney co-found the Brevard Cake Artist’s Club and her bakery, Simi Cakes & Confections (Pronounced See-Me) is located in Melbourne, Fl.

With her bubbly personality and delightful Scottish accent Jacqui Kelly is a pastry chef , cake decorator, multi-gold medal winning sugar artist and Best in Show at Cake International 2014 London. Her work, be it larger than life or in miniature is renowned for its incredible attention to detail and hyper-realism. Jacqui Kelly has an impressive client list, from Harrods to HRH Queen Elizabeth II, from large corporations to the couple next door she delivered sugar creations to them all. 2017drewDrew recently graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Texas at Dallas earning himself Bachelors’ degrees in both Finance and Business Administration. While attending college Drew decided to take his cake decorating hobby further by entering cake competitions.

Only after two and half years of competing across the nation Drew has won numerous awards including Best of Show, Best of Division three times, and placing several other times. His work has been featured multiple occasions by newspapers, magazines, and online sources such as Cake Central, Edible Artist Network, and the Cake Decorating Corner.

In 2013 Cake Central featured Drew’s OSSAS wedding cake in their limited edition book entitled Adore 2013. Drew continues to travel not only to compete across the nation but to also spread his passion and knowledge of cake.

Class description: In the class, students will gain the essential skills to recreate one of the most desired wedding flowers in sugar. Learn the difference between wire and unwired petals while knowing when to properly use each one. Understand how to use modeling tools to create realistic petals out of gumpaste for any stage of rose. Lastly, learn how to properly shade and highlight your flowers using petal dusts to bring them to life. Filler flower, leaves, and arranging will also be covered in the class.

2017dawnDawn Parrott, CWPC is a certified working Pastry Chef, a former pastry chef instructor and accomplished award winning cake designer, living in Houston TX. Her inspiration came at a young age when she watched her dad and step mother make incredible cakes for family and friends. Her mother also owned her own business in ceramics which also taught Dawn more of the artistic talents she still uses today. Many years later and mostly self-taught, Dawn has won awards around the country and continues to practice and teach the craft as she knows it.
Dawn’s award winning designs have been featured numerous times in different cake, baking magazines and books across the US and Internationally. Dawn has appeared on television: The Food Network Challenges, and has most recently been awarded Cake Masters 2015 Royal Icing Award.
Dawn’s specialty is in the piping area. While she loves to work with many mediums, royal icing is definitely her passion. It is her goal to make people want to pick up a piping bag and create works of art.
